My Story

Hi. My name is Rufus. Just Rufus. I’m an orange and white herringbone tabby gentleman cat.

I was a young street cat when one day I found myself under a red car with two cats hissing at me. A lady came out of the house to see what her cats were hissing at. She saw me and whistled. I came into the house, started eating and never left. I’m still here 11 years later.

A year and a half ago we noticed I was slowly losing weight. I had an endoscopic bowel biopsy which showed IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). I was started on leukeran and prednisolone and I still take them. I also get vitamin B12 injections monthly. It’s been an up and down journey, with improvement sometimes, setbacks other times. The latest experiment has been a commercial raw diet and I seem to be doing well on that. It tastes yummy.

I’m a very laid back cat. You can probably tell from the pictures on the left that a major theme in my life is sleeping. Daddy has nicknamed me “Oblomov.” I love to have my tummy rubbed. I also love fish and liver. I adore liver in any form. It’s about the only thing that makes me excited and wide awake.
